Information regarding the CARES Act Section 18004(a)(1) and Section 18004(a)(3)
Background
Wright Graduate University has signed and returned to the Department of Education Certification and Agreements to receive and use funds under Sections 18004(a)(1) and Sections 18004(a)(3) of the CARES Act.
Under Section 18004(a)(1), the total funds the institution will receive from the Department pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement is $5,238, of which at least $2,619 will be awarded as Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students. The institution is obligated to use no less than 50 percent of the funds received under this section to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students, and it intends to use 100 percent of these funds for such student aid.
Under Section 18004(a)(3), the total funds the institution will receive from the Department pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement is $494,762 to assist the institution and its students with unmet needs related to the pandemic, including institutional costs associated with the transition to distance education and aid to students for expenses included in their cost of education.
Guidance to Students
Funds from Section 18004(a)(1) are available only for students who were enrolled in a Wright Graduate University degree or certificate program when the COVID-19 pandemic was declared on March 13, 2020. Student financial aid grants available under Section 18004(a)(3) are available both to those students who were enrolled as of March 13, 2020, and for those who enrolled in subsequent quarters.
