The Wright Graduate University Experience

The Wright Educational Approach

WGU provides a performative learning environment—one in which learners are also practitioners and apply what they are studying to their own vocations and broader lives as well as the lives of those with whom they work.

The intellectual foundations of our transformational programs synthesize the best theories and methodologies related to the enhancement of human potential—ancient Greek philosophy to modern-day existential philosophy; developmental, Adlerian, humanistic and positive psychology; educational theories from Dewey to Vygotsky to Mezirow; current research in neuroscience, neuroeconomics, and behavioral economics; and other behavioral sciences.

Learners are challenged to understand many aspects of human communication and behavior and to then apply those insights and practices in their vocations.

The Wright Curriculum

With coursework consisting of in-class lectures and discussion, online activities, one-on-one mentoring, and performative learning, Wright Graduate University offers MA, EdD and graduate certificate programs. Our curriculum fosters:

  • Hands-on learning by studying, researching, doing, and serving.
  • Deep insight into the theories and applications of leadership, education, coaching, and human development.
  • Synthesis, design, application, and promulgation of cutting-edge research.
  • Effective use of feedback, coaching, visioning, and goal-setting for higher levels of leadership within organizations, communities, and society.

Wright Graduate University is designed for adult learners who hold a bachelor’s degree and have the desire and ability to do rigorous independent study and participate and share fully in classroom and group settings. WGU seeks learners who will apply the coaching and leadership skills they gain from our programs to enhance any other vocation including, but not limited to: business, human relations, and education.

The WGU curriculum provides adult learner-practitioners with a unique opportunity to augment their academic coursework with training seminars as well as group and independent study. Labs and seminars developed over the past 25 years bring together the best transformational technologies and philosophies. Our graduates emerge as highly competent professionals who understand how to be effective coaches and peak performers in their field as they develop their own potential, and the potential of others.

Distance Education And Residential Components

The Wright Graduate University learning experience takes place through a hybrid model, which includes both distance education and on-campus residential learning.

While the distance education components -- weekly assigned readings, discussion posts, and replies to your classmates -- can be completed from anywhere with a computer and an internet connection, the in-residence component of your education has special requirements.
